No work, No pay: Nemcha cautions SW employees

Social welfare and cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen gave a strong message to the employees of her department to work effectively and sincerely while stating that the policy of 'no work, no pay' will soon be effective for them.

The message was given during a surprise visit at the district social welfare office, Bishnupur district on Tuesday.

Nemcha directed the officers-in-charge to properly maintain the attendance register and called upon all employees to inculcate the sense of punctuality by attending office in time. “One should not forget that salary is being paid by the government in order to efficiently serve the masses,” she said. She also advised the officials to ardently listen to public grievances and deal with them with love and sympathy.

During the visit, the minister checked the entire office and asked the officials to keep the compound neat and clean.

After giving a patient hearing to issues brought up by the employees, Nemcha gave her assurance of extending all possible assistance for their welfare and asked them to approach her for any assistance pertaining to the welfare and development of the department.

She further conveyed that such surprise visits at district offices will be done frequently in the coming days so as to ensure proper functioning of the offices in all the districts. In this way, the department will be successful in reaching out to all sections of the society, she contended.
