Tightening its grip against corruption, the state government has suspended four of its officials for irregularities in utilisation of land resources, records and public assets on Thursday.
On the other hand, another an official of SDO office, Bishnupur has been honoured with cash prize for his sincerity.
The suspended officials have been identified as N Suran Singh, SDC Imphal West Central; O Dhanabir Singh, Circle Mandol, SDC Office, Imphal West Central; Th Ibomcha Singh, Supervisor Kanungo (recently transferred to look after SDC/SDO Office, Chandel) and A Iboton Singh, Supervisor Kanungo and i/c Registrar Kanungo of Directorate of Settlement & Land Records.
Holding a press meet in this regard at the conference hall of his office, CAF&PD, Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation Minister Karam Shyam said that the decision of suspending the four officials was taken in consultation with the revenue commissioner Th Chittaranjan and other high ranking officials of the department after detailed inquiry and proper, thorough investigation of the irregularities and public offence committed by the quartet.
Minister Shyam said that he received several complaints in relation to improper land resources utilisation and its mismanagement from the public during his nine months tenure as Revenue minister.
Announcing the suspension of four officials for manipulating land assets which are public properties for their own personal profits and interests, the minister made it clear that stern action would be taken against those who misuse public assets.
The minister informed that both SDC Suran and mandol Dhanabir are responsible for wrong entry of Tarunibala’s mother in-law as deceased instead of alive regarding land property entitlement and it would be justified on the part of the government to punish them for distorting facts and their involvement in the matter.
Furthermore, Th Ibomcha has been suspended for his irresponsible behaviour in connection with irregularities regarding 33 Khangabok land records, the minister said, adding that there are also cases of computerisation and manipulation that the revenue officials of the state are looking into.
A Iboton misused the dak chitha (patta) legal papers of the National Sports University that is a state/national property without prior permission of the authorities concerned, the minister added.
Meanwhile, the minister awarded cash prize to one Ningthoujam Ibochouba, who works as zilladar in SDO Office, Bishnupur for his sincere service regarding revenue tax collection of Rs 50,000 within a short span of 10 days.
Ibochouba hails from Bishnupur district and he has been making various proposals for the development of the department.
Acknowledging the suggestions made by Ibochouba to his senior officials, Karam Shaym assured that his suggestions/proposals would be considered.
