‘BJP not afraid to fight for integrity of Manipur’
STAFF REPORTER IMPHAL, 26th Dec:
Chief minister N Biren has categorically stated that BJP is not afraid of fighting for the integrity of Manipur and party members are always ready to sacrifice their lives if it is needed for the sake of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The chief minister was speaking at the ‘Good Governance Day’, which the party observes to commemorate the birthday of first BJP Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, held at the party’s office at Nityaipat Chuthek here on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, Biren noted how the people of Manipur are worried over the Framework Agreement signed between Centre and NSCN-IM. A delegation of different CSOs of the state have met BJP national president Amit Shah and general secretary Ram Madhav, who is also in-charge of northeast region, and urged them to uphold the existing territory and integrity of the state.
At the same time, Ram Madhav is putting his efforts in this regard, Biren said and added that he is confident of the Centre upholding the demands of the state.
Recalling that the state assembly, in its recent sitting, adopted a resolution for pressing the Centre to disclose the contents of the agreement, Biren reiterated that the BJP is not afraid to fight for the integrity of Manipur. They are even ready to lead the fight and sacrifice their lives for the protection of integrity and interest of the state and its people. His party will support any efforts for the welfare of the state, the CM affirmed.
Regarding the governance of the previous NDA government, Biren maintained that Atal Bihari Vajpayee showed that governance is for the welfare of the people by taking up several people-centric schemes. He changed the culture of upholding interest of a few politicians, bureaucrats and party workers and took up several initiatives for the welfare of the common masses. And today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuing the legacy by bringing a good governance to promote and improve conditions of the people from the micro level, Biren added.
Expressing his support to the governance of Modi, the CM said that he would take part in the election campaign in favour of the party in Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland with the objective of bringing BJP governments in the entire northeast region.
Works minister Th Biswajit, MAHUD minister Th Shyamkumar, former union minister Th Chaoba, former CM Radhabinod Koijam and BJP MLAs were also present during the commemorative event.
