IMPHAL, 6th Sep: The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN/NSCN-IM) has strongly condemned the news report carried by The Telegraph in the daily’s September 3 edition relating to Naga peace talks.
According to a GPRN/NSCN-IM statement, The Telegraph has sensationalized one particular sentence quoting from the Nagalim Voice (August 2020) editorial in its news report titled ‘NSCN-IM: Nagas ready for fresh war’ which went viral on social media too.
While asserting that the NSCN-IM stands for peaceful solution of Indo-Naga political issue and that was the reason how the second Indo-Naga Ceasefire was brought about in 1997, the GPRN/NSCN-IM statement said that it is a matter of regret that the Government of India has failed to demonstrate the desired sincerity and commitment despite 23 years of peace talks. This is the crux of the ongoing talks, it added.
The statement also said that the Government of India must revisit the hard earned achievements of the Indo-Naga peace process and push forward in the desired direction to bring solution that is honourable and acceptable to both the parties.
