Corona fatalities continue as state’s tally touches 6699

IMPHAL, 4th Sep: With one more death on Friday, coronavirus related death toll in the state has reached 35 while the total confirmed cases reached 6699 and actual caseload remained at 1765.
The daily bulletin from Covid-19 Common Control Room (CCR) reported three deaths, two from Imphal East and one from Thoubal districts. The two from Imphal East died on Thursday night and this daily had already carried the report in its Friday edition.
The 35th victim has been identified as Mahamudah Khanam (56) of Lilong in Thoubal district. She was a diabetic patient and was rushed to Shija hospitals after her condition deteriorated on Friday night. Her sample was found positive for Covid-19 during RAT and life support treatment was given to her. However, she died on Friday around 3 am.
The CCR bulletin reported 90 new positive cases, which include 66 persons (39 male & 27 female) from among the general population and 24 personnel from among Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The positive cases were detected at JNIMS VRDL - 33; Jiribam - 3; Shija Hospital - 5; Churachandpur - 7; Bishnupur - 12; Imphal Hospital - 1; Imphal East RAT- 3; Asian Hospital - 1; Thoubal - 6; Ukhrul - 2; Imphal West RD Wing - 1; Tengnoupal - 1; Babina Diagnostics - 5: Raj Medicity - 8; and Maipakpi - 2.
The 66 cases from among the general population are from Imphal West - 10; Imphal East - 12; Bishnupur - 13; Thoubal - 8; Jiribam - 3; Kakching -2; Tengnoupal - 15; and Ukhrul - 3. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to Covid Care facilities and all necessary measures like containment and contact tracing initiated.
In the past 24 hours, 125 patients were discharged from RIMS (2), JNIMS (2), CCCs of CAPF (37), Lamboi Khongnangkhong (28), UNACCO (36), NIELIT (7), Churachandpur Lanva (12) and CCC Thoubal (1) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. No district information was provided for the fresh discharged cases. However, sources said that 31 of them are from Imphal West, 20 from Imphal East, 8 from Bishnupur, 4 from Thoubal, 13 from Churachandpur, 2 from Kakching and 4 from Kangpokpi districts while locations of 43 new discharged cases could not be confirmed. As of Friday, district locations of 1543 discharged cases are unavailable.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 6699 (general population - 5046 and CAPF personnel -1653). Number of recovered cases is 4899 (general population-3827 and CAPF personnel - 1072) while number of active cases is 1765 (general population - 1186 and CAPF personnel -579). The recovery rate has improved to 73.13 per cent.
In collaboration with People’s Task Force and Indian Red Cross Society, intensive awareness campaign on Covid-19 has been started from September 1 in and around Imphal to create awareness among the people, the CCR bulletin informed.
On the other hand, status report shared by IDSP informed that only 2047 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours showing a reduced number of tests as compared with the figures in the past few days. Mention may be made here that the number of samples tested on daily basis saw a higher count surpassing 3000 in mid-August but the daily test capacity gradually reduced with the onset of September. Despite the reduced number of detection reported in the last couple of days, daily positivity rate witness surpassed 4 per cent in September as compared to below 3 per cent during the later half of August.
Meanwhile, 12 new cases have been detected at Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai on Friday.
As per data maintained by The People’s Chronicle, number of locally transmitted cases has reached 2857 which is 42.65 per cent of the total confirmed cases. Number of local cases in different districts are Imphal West – 1211, Churachandpur – 100, Thoubal – 601, Imphal East – 471, Kangpokpi – 10, Ukhrul – 25, Senapati – 14, Tamenglong – 22, Kakching – 36, Kamjong – 10, Bishnupur – 135, Chandel – 48, Jiribam – 70, Noney – 27, Tengnoupal – 47 while Pherzawl does not have any local cases. District location of 30 local cases is not available. The Covid-10 situation is getting grim in Tengnoupal district as the district reported nearly 50 local cases in just four days. However, almost all the cases are from a single village.
Sources revealed that at-least 47 new cases have been detected during tests conducted in different testing centres and private hospitals in Imphal areas on Friday. They are from Thangmeiband (2), Sekmai (presently staying at Thangmeiband), Mohar House Uripok Sorbon Thingel Leirak, Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai (2), RIMS quarter (2), Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai, Kanto Sabal Khurkhul, Kakhulong Paona Keithel, Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai (2), Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai (12), Maharabi Maning Leikai, Keishamthong Kabui Khul (2), Yaiskul Chingakham Leikai (7), Thangmeiband Muji Khul (4), Majorkhul (4), Thangal Keithel, Nabadwip Kolkata, Mayang Imphal and Sagoltongba.
The 47 cases include eight children (four boys and four girls) in the age group of 3 to 13 years, and a 17-year old boy.
Data analysis by this daily shows that rate of infection has reached 2159 confirmed cases per million population against the national average of 2949 CPM. Test rate has improved to 53,326 tests per million population against the national average of 33,767 TPM. Positivity rate stands at 4.04 per cent against the national average of 8.5 per cent while case fatality rate saw a slight increase at 0.52 per cent against the national average of 1.74 per cent.
