Panic in Ccpur as virus infects villagers, claims one

CCPUR, 22nd Aug: One person each from Rengkai, Neihsial Veng and Tuilaphai villages in Churachandpur district tested positive for COVID-19 consequently triggering fear among local people if community transmission has started as none of them have any travel history.
The public apprehension over the virus entering an uncontrollable stage in the district came intensified as the district reported the first COVID-19 casualty after one IRB constable succumbed to the virus Friday at about 5pm.
The deceased T Thangsianmang (34) alias Siante Tombing, son of T Vunglal was posted at 1 IRB post at Headquarters Veng, Churachandpur.
Thangsianmang was the first resident of Churachandpur to fall prey to the infectious disease. He is survived by wife Lhingkhoneih and four children (two sons and two daughters).
He tested COVID-19 positive through RAT on August 16 and got admitted on the same day at CCC Meitram. He breathed his last on Friday.
Meanwhile, CMO Churachandpur Dr VC Pau has urged people of the district to follow safety norms laid down by government from time to time and asked people to wear face mask compulsorily and maintain social distancing.
The CMO also said that returnees from other states will be tested as soon as they arrive and those found positive for COVID-19 will be sent to COVID-19 Care Centre while negative returnees will be sent to community quarantine centre or for self-isolation at home.
