Guv, CM, others greet on Patriots’ Day

IMPHAL, 12th Aug: Governor Dr Najma Helptulla, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Rajya Sabha MP & titular king Leisemba Sanajaoba and others have extended greetings on the occasion on Patriots’ Day and exhorted people of the state to stand united in dealing with challenges and divisive forces.
In her message, the Governor while wishing the observance all success, said, “This day reminds us that we only succeed when we stand and work together as starkly evident from the British craft of ‘divide and rule’ which they effectively used to their advantage. While observing the Patriots’ Day, let us all take a pledge to stand as one against all challenges to the freedom and integrity of our country rising above caste, creed and religion.” The Chief Minister, on the other hand, said: “Our forefathers valued freedom and sovereignty of their motherland more than their own lives. The present generation should not forget the highest acts of patriotism of our forefathers. These thoughts should guide us in facing various divisive forces acting from within and without.”
RS MP and titular king Leisemba Sanajaoba said, “The supreme sacrifice and great courage of our forefathers will always be remembered, generation by generation. The present generation needs to follow the path shown by our brave heroes and those unknown soldiers who laid down their lives for the protection of our motherland's independence.”
Ministers Th Biswajit Singh and Awangbow Newmai also sent their warm wishes and greetings to the people of state on the occasion.
Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Major General Alok Naresh and all ranks of Assam Rifles also extended their greetings to the people of state on the occasion of Patriot’s Day 2020. The Day is observed to mark the supreme sacrifice made by Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General on August 13, 1891 and it is a reminder of the soaring sense of patriotism amongst the brave people of Manipur.
The IG AR (South) further urged the people to come together on this occasion, bearing the same indomitable and unconquerable spirit to overcome the scourge of insurgency as only a united resolve can usher in an era of peace, tranquillity and prosperity in the state, a PRO IGAR (S) release conveyed.
