Bomb attack at postal assistant’s house decried

People of Keikhu Muslim Makha Leikai on Wednesday protested the act of exploding a bomb at the house of postal assistant Md Abdul Qudus (41), son of late Samsuruddin. The bomb attack on Tuesday afternoon was carried out in the form of planting the explosive device inside cement bags and delivering the same through a labourer.

The locals staged a sit-in-protest under the joint aegis of Young Star Sporting Union, MOHOLLA and Keikhu Muslim Women’s Welfare Society.

Welfare Society secretary Khullakpam Sanaru said that the bomb attack in the residential area has created panic among the people. It was lucky that the cart with cement bags containing the bomb was outside the gate and Abdul Qudus was inside. She further appealed to whomever responsible not to repeat such acts in future.

All India Gramin Dak Sevak Union Manipur, All India Postal Employees Union (AIPEU) P-III Group C Manipur Divisional branch and AIPEU P-IV Manipur Division also condemned the bomb attack in the strongest term.

In a joint statement, the organisations recalled that another powerful bomb was also planted in front of Abdul Qudus’s gate on October 24. Decrying the bomb threats, the organisations appealed to those responsible to refrain from indulging in such acts in future.

Mention may be made that the bomb was brought along with two cement bags by a cart puller, who was reportedly instructed to deliver the same at Abdul Qudus’s house on Tuesday at about 2.55 pm.
