Sticker campaign for ILPS gets underway
IMPHAL, 19th Dec:
The women wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) flagged off its sticker campaign on ILPS from Tuesday in front of BJP Manipur Pradesh office here by putting stickers on passenger buses parked there. Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of the campaign, JCILPS women’s wing convener S Memcha expressed concern over the indifferent attitude of the government towards the demand for implementing ILPS or a similar law in the state to protect the indigenous communities. She said that they would press the government to introduce a bill and pass the same during the winter session of the state assembly, which will begin from Wednesday. JCILPS is all set to conduct a series of protests until ILPS is implemented in the state, she added. She also informed that the sticker campaign will cover all passenger and private vehicles plying in Imphal and its surrounding areas.
