APSRA to gherao JNIMS director on Aug 10

STAFF REPORTER
IMPHAL, 3rd Aug: Denouncing the delay on the part of JNIMS authority in implementing the demand for time scale promotion, which had already been approved by the state cabinet, Associate Professor Senior Resident Association (APSRA) has announced that it will gherao the director's office on August 10.
Issuing a statement in this regard, Association president Dr N Kumarjit said that the prolonged demand of the APSRA was accepted and approved by the state cabinet on January 27 and the order was forwarded to the director's office on March 12. Despite multiple requests from the Association members, three DPCs were conducted amid the pandemic. As such, APSRA would be staging a gherao at the director's office located at A-Block of the institute from August 10 onwards.
Kumarjit then accused the director of nepotism while the hospital doctors are risking their lives in caring for the patients amid the pandemic. However, he clarified that the demands are not against the people and contended that the doctors will continue caring for patients, while appealing to the people to extend their support.
The president also informed that a meeting of the Association was held on Monday wherein three resolutions were adopted and later, submitted to the state’s principal secretary (health). The resolutions include removing the current JNIMS director from the post for incompetency; time scale promotion of regular SR-tutor-demonstrator-lady medical officers and allocating vacant PG seats to MBBS, SR and CMO of JNIMS.
