Delay in giving test results risky: Club
IMPHAL, 1st Aug: Delay in providing test results of close contacts of positive cases has created a sense of uncertainty among the people.
In a statement, Friends Union Club Khongnang Pheidekpi informed that a man from the locality, who works as a lab technician at RIMS hospital was found positive on July 28. Consequently, samples of his family members and close contacts were collected on July 29 and 30.
Results of 15 samples were provided on Friday and 9 samples on Saturday. Of the nine results, one was found positive while the results of the rest returned negative. The positive case is daughter of the lab technician but other family members were found negative. As they stayed together at home while waiting for the test results, there are high possibilities of the virus being transmitted to the other family members requiring further re-testing of the remaining family members, the statement said.
Expressing serious concern over the delay in providing test results, the statement alleged neglecting high risk areas and urged the authority to take up necessary measures to address the loopholes.
