Using all means to fight COVID-19: Minister

IMPHAL, 29th Jul: Allaying apprehension among public following sudden spike in COVID-19 positive cases at different places across the state, health minister N Jayantakumar has appealed to people not to panic and maintained that Manipur government is using all means to fight the pandemic and contain it.
The health minister also expressed hope that the pandemic could be tackled successfully when people understand the contagion, remain calm and help each other.
In a video message to the people uploaded on social media Wednesday, Jayantakumar said that state government has been putting all its effort to contain the pandemic in Thoubal district where positive cases are increasing since the past few weeks. Government is even considering shifting of COVID care centre already opened for the district to another place if positive cases happen to increase exponentially. However, people need to remain calm and provide a place where the COVID care centre could be shifted, he said, adding that the situation would become worsen if local people oppose opening of such centre in their locality. The health minister also maintained Covid patients cannot be left to die and every effort should be made to bring normalcy in the district with maximum cooperation.
While terming as unfortunate that a man succumbed to the disease early Wednesday morning, the health minister clarified that the man indeed was undergoing dialysis due to kidney ailment and died due to multiple organ failure. Expressing concern over threat posed to staff of Medilane as reported in local dailies, the health minister appealed to people to understand dedicated service provided by Medilane.
