Meanwhile, the government authority has been facing a tough time in finding place for cremating the body, which is still lying at RIMS mortuary till the time of filing this report. Initially, the authority was planning to cremate the body at the government crematorium at Minuthong but the local people raised objections. District administration of Imphal West wrote to district administration of Thoubal and Imphal Municipal Corporation in this regard but no significant development in finding a crematorium ground has been reported.
According to sources, family members of the deceased could not claim the body since the neighbours strongly opposed of bringing it back owing to the "high risk of the virus".
Later, the body of the deceased was planned for cremation at the Minuthong facility operated by Imphal Municipal Corporation but could not be carried out due to resistance by the locals.
