Several areas in IW, IE declared virus zones
IMPHAL, 28th Jul: Following confirmation of several Covid-19 positive cases in certain areas of Imphal West and Imphal East districts, the district magistrates concerned have declared the affected areas as containment zones.
In separate orders, district magistrate (DM) of Imphal West Naorem Praveen declared 6 areas of the district as containment zones.
According to the DM, with the detection of 3 Covid-19 positive cases in a family including an 8 Manipur Rifles jawan residing at the family line of 1st Bn MR, areas around the family line have been declared as containment zone.
With confirmation of a Covid-19 positive among the staffer of Horticulture section of Room No. 119 on the Secretariat Annexe, North Block, the area enclosed by the open space of the Annexe on the north, corridor between Room no. 119 and 122 on the south, Room no. 120 on the east and Room no. 118 on the west have been declared as containment zone.
Moreover, detection of a Covid-19 positive in RIMS PG Ladies Hostel has led to declaration of the surround areas as off-limit to unauthorised persons.
Following the detection of Covid-19 positive cases, one each at Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai and Oinam Thingel, the respective localities have been declared as containment zones. The geographical area of Lee Faith School, Sangaiprou has also been declared as a containment zone, after an inmate of the QC set up at the school tested positive for Covid-19. Meanwhile, Don Bosco School, Langjing; Temple of Learning, Canchipur and Comet School, Ghari, which were earlier declared as containment zones have been denotified by another order issued by DM Imphal West Naorem Praveen Singh.
In Imphal East District, following the confirmation of Covid-19 positive case at Laipham Khunou Mamang Leikai, DM Dr Rangitabali Waikhom has declared nearby areas as containment zone.
Another order informed that with detection of a Covid-19 positive case among the inmates of JNIMS Block A Residence Quarter, the surrounding areas have been declared as containment zone.
On the other-hand, results of all 26 PWD staffers whose samples were tested turned negative. Their samples were collected and tested after the detection of a COVID-19 case among the staff. Measures are being taken up to properly sanitize the PWD Complex at Khoyathong before reopening, Chief Engineer Temba Singh informed in a press release.
