RIMS clarifies on closure; MU lifts ban

IMPHAL, 27th Jul: With reference to a news item regarding closure of RIMS (till July 29) published in some local dailies, RIMS media advisor N Phillip Singh has clarified that only OPD and affected departments have been closed while normal health care services in other departments – casualty, emergency obstetrics/gynaecology services (including delivery), in-patient service, flu clinic, cancer treatment, PMR, Dental College, etc., will function as usual. The media advisor further explained that the decision to close General OPD and affected departments was taken on recommendation of experts and HOD as a precautionary measure due to infected cases of COVID-19 among staffers and in-patients in some departments. Meanwhile, Manipur University (MU) has withdrawn its order (dated July 21) prohibiting the employees of the university, visitors, individuals and students from Thoubal District from entering the MU campus.
