Dr Radheshyam calls on NCTE, UGC heads

IMPHAL, 20th Jul: Education minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam called on the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) chairperson Vineet Joshi at the latter’s Dwarka (New Delhi) office on Monday to discuss about the prevailing conditions of the DM College of Teacher Education (DMCTE) and Hindi Teachers’ Training College (HTTC).
During the meeting, the minister apprised the NCTE chairperson about steps taken by the state government in making good of the shortcomings of the institutions and pressed for restoring the recognition granted to the BEd Course of DMCTE along with conducting of Hindi Shakshan Parangat Programme of HTTC considering the importance of the institutions in the state and the education system.
DMCTE, Imphal runs two courses- BEd and MEd.
Dr Th Radheshyam also met with the University Grants Commission (UGC) secretary Prof Rajnish Jain at his office chamber and impressed upon him to grant the recognition of Dhanamanjuri University under Section 12 (B) of UGC Act at the earliest to facilitate avail grants and funds from UGC and other funding agencies. The DMU has already received 2(F) recognition under the UGC Act.
The minister said that the Committee Meeting will be held soon and is hopeful that the Ministry will work for uplift of education sector in Manipur.
