Local transmission cases increase in state

IMPHAL, 19th Jul: Number of local transmission cases has reached 90 in the state which is 4.7 per cent of the total confirmed cases of 1911 as on Sunday evening. On a brighter side, nearly two-third of the cumulative number of patients has recovered and there is not a single case of fatality due to the virus.
The state recorded 20 new cases (14 male & 6 female) in the last 24 hours of which two are reported to be cases of local transmission. The new infections belong to the districts of Bishnupur (1), Imphal East (2), Imphal West (9), Tamenglong (3), Thoubal (2), Senapati (2) and Ukhrul (1). One each from Imphal East and Thoubal districts are cases of local transmission while the rest are state natives who returned from other states recently.
In the past 24 hours, 53 persons were also discharged from the CCCs of Meitram (14), RD Wing Lamphel (8), Churachandpur (8), Thoubal (2), Kakching (12) and JNIMS (9) after their test results came negative.
Numbers of active and recovered cases are 676 and 1235 respectively while the recovery rate is 64.62 per cent, as per statement of the Covid-19 CCR issued by additional director (health) Dr Kh Sasheekumar. Interestingly, the status update shared by IDSP shows a different figure with regard to the number of discharged cases in the last 24 hours and those of recovered and active cases.
While the CCR statement said that number of discharged cases in the last 24 hours is 53, the IDSP statement said that it is 62. At the same time, the IDSP statement informed that numbers of active and recovered cases are 698 and 1213 respectively. However, the time stamp on the statements issued by IDSP is 6.30 pm and that of CCR is 7 pm and there is a time difference of 30 minutes between the two statements. But sources said that the information released by CCR is based on the data provided by IDSP so the difference in number of cases has been a matter of concern for quite some time.
Meanwhile, the state has so far conducted 71,016 tests including 821 in the last 24 hours which shows a test rate of nearly 23,000 per one million population. The confirmed case per million rate of the state is now at 615.86. The average growth rate of the state is at 3 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 655 truckers and 368 commuters including 322 flight passengers were screened for Covid symptoms. Currently, 3557 persons are under quarantine period which include 352 in paid quarantine centres.
