Four ministers on meeting spree in Delhi

IMPHAL, 18th Jul: Four BJP ministers, who are in the national capital since Friday, reportedly met almost all the central leaders Saturday and a central leader is likely to soon come to Imphal to resolve issues besetting the coalition government.
According to sources, works minister Th Biswajit, education minister Th Radheshyam, social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen and agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian met several national leaders and discussed about the political situation in the state.
The sources also said the four state ministers met BJP national president JP Nadda in the morning and later at 8pm Saturday but details about the meetings could not be immediately ascertained. However, it is likely that issues related to opposition being raised by some MLAs against chief minister N Biren Singh, could have been deliberated upon. It is informed that the central leaderships of BJP might have discussed the reason for the frequent voice of dissent against chief minister N Biren. They are also believed to have sought views of the ministers over the charges levelled against the CM and his close associates including some leaders of the party’s state unit in an affidavit filed by a decorated cop.
Considering the infighting within BJP legislators, the party leaders are likely to visit the state shortly to settle the issue, the source added.
Mention may be made that the four ministers told media persons prior to leaving for the national capital that they are visiting Delhi to meet union ministers of their respective departments to seek smooth fund releasing process and assistance for strengthening the government. However, there is no report of them meeting the union ministers concerned except for the party’s central leaderships.
On the other hand, the four ministers had a separate meeting with six BJP MLAs, who are demanding to change the CM, before leaving for the national capital. Out of the 18 legislators of BJP, six MLAs excluding the Speaker are said to be in favour of CM Biren. However, a source said that an attempt to show strength of support in favour of CM Biren could muster the signatures of only five BJP legislators on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the four ministers in New Delhi are expected to return to Imphal on Sunday or Monday.
