17 new cases detected, recovery rate improves
IMPHAL, 13th Jul: With the detection of 17 fresh cases, cumulative number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the state has reached 1626 while the numbers of active and discharged cases are respectively 656 and 970.
The 17 new cases including 10 females were detected at VRDL of JNIMS in the past 24 hours with Senapati district accounting for nine of the infected persons followed by five in Imphal West and three in Churachandpur districts. All of them will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containtment and contact tracing are in place, a statement issued by COVID-19 Control Room said.
Altogether 74 persons were also discharged from CCC Meitram (10), CCC Tamenglong (28), CCC Thoubal (3), Senapati (6), Ukhrul 5) and CCC JNIMS (22) in the last 24 hours after they were found negative. Thus, recovery rate too has improved to 59.65 percent.
Meanwhile, as per status update on Covid-19 shared by IDSP, 529 truckers and 537 commuters including 445 flight passengers were screened at different entry points of the state in the last 24 hours.
A total of 4606 people are undergoing quarantine and the state has so far conducted 64,080 tests including 546 conducted in the last 24 hours. JNIMS conducted tests on 437 samples in the said period while DH Jiribam conducted 101 tests (antigen). DH Senapati also conducted test on eight samples through TrueNat. Among those discharged in the last 24 hours, 10 were from Churachandpur, four from Kangpokpi, two from Chandel and one each from Kaching, Jiribam, Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
Meanwhile, our Noney district correspondent informed that out of the 25 positive cases 24 tested negative. With only one person undergoing treatment, Noney is all poised to become Covid-19 free district, in case there no fresh infections.
Contrary to Noney heading towards becoming the first district in the state to see end of the virus, there are a total of 107 denizens of Kakching district, who returned from several parts of the country, currently under surveillance at different quarantine centres (QCs) set up in the district.
Out of the 26 quarantine centres of the district, 18 QCs do not have any inmates. It is worth mentioning that 25 individuals were allowed to leave their respective facilities for home quarantine after competition of institutional quarantine period.
District Surveillance Officer Kakching Dr Kiran Elangbam informed that the total number of Covid-19 cases in the district is 107. It is also informed that 25 individuals are being kept at Covid Care Facility set up at Padma Ratna English School.
