KSA for social boycott of sub-standard mask suppliers
IMPHAL, 13th Jul: Furious over supply of sub-standard N-95, three layer masks and PPE, which are meant for use by COVID-19 frontline warriors, Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) has demanded befitting punishment of all those involved in such inhumane act.
In a release, KSA publicity secretary H Babulu asserted that people should not let free of those profit mongering thugs, who supply sub-standard masks during such critical times. All those involved should be socially boycotted, he added.
Subsequent to reports that sub-standard items were supplied KSA has been pressuring authorities concerned including Health minister and Directorate of Health and Medical Sciences for taking up necessary action, Babulu said. Considering it as an act of human rights violation, KSA sent a letter to Manipur Human Rights’ Commission (MHRC) on May 5, urging the commission to lodge a case against the sub-standard supply. Subsequently, MHRC lodged a case, he recounted.
Babulu maintained that superintendent of police, vigilance & anti-corruption cell registered an FIR case no. 3(4) 2020 V & A.C., P.S. U/S120-B r/w S.420 IPC, S.13(1)(a) PC Act, 1988 after MHRC pressured the government. Later, on July, 4 KSA urged the MHRC to give the status report of the said FIR.
Drawing the attention of Director General of Police and CM N Biren, who also holds the portfolio of Home, Babulu demanded stringent punishment of all those people, doctors, officials of the department involved in the case.
The senior medical officer, who was arrested by vigilance & anti-corruption cell in this regard, should be punished severely, Babulu said, while appealing for completing the process of FIR at the earliest so that all those involved are given stringent penalty they deserve.
