PREPAK remembers Patsoi firing incident
IMPHAL, 26th April: Recalling the April 26, 1980 firing incident at Patsoi Langing Khunou wherein CRPF personnel killed four innocent people, which the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has been observing as Indian Colonialism Resist Day, a PREPAK statement issued by its secretary in-charge of publicity and propaganda Leibakngakpa Luwang said such inhumane activities of Indian security forces spur rebel movement in the region.
On that very same day outfit’s Red Army cadres killed two CRPF personnel at around 9.15 am and recovered two arms from them. In retaliation, CRPF killed 4 civilians and tortured several men and women including children, it said. After the incident, even a pregnant woman who was hiding inside a room was pulled out and killed mercilessly, the outfit alleged.
Conveying that the day is being observed to raise voice against the oppression by Indian forces, the statement said in commemoration of the successful strike Red Army cadres launched against Indian forces on April 26, 1980, PREPAK has been observing Indian Colonialism Resist Day. Stating that the people of Manipur and the region have been facing several form of harassment and atrocities by the Indian forces and kind of oppressive warfare committed by the Indian armed forces to suppress the freedom struggle is known by every citizen of the region, the outfit appealed to people to support the movement being initiated for self-determination.
