JAC serves ultimatum, demands arrest of killers within 48 hours
KAKCHING, 14 th May: The JAC against the killing of Nengneikim Haokip @ Shila and Kaikholen Tuboi has served an ultimatum to intensify agitations if state government fails to produce the culprits involved in the twin killing within 48 hours. Speaking to media persons at New Molbem village in Chandel district, JAC secretary Jangkholam Guite conveyed that the agitation against the killing of Nengneikim Haokip @ Shila and Kaikholen Tuboi was called off by the JAC after signing an MoU with state government represented by IFCD & YAS minister Letpao Haokip on May 6. However, state government failed to nab and book the culprits involved in the killing till date even though bodies of the two victims were found on May 5. As such, the JAC will be compelled to launch an intense agitation if the culprits involved in the killing are not produce within 48 hrs, he added.
The JAC secretary further maintained that the news report in connection with the killing of Nengneikim Haokip and Kaikholen Tuboi published in Manipuri edition of a particular newspaper on May 9 was totally misleading. How come the news report mentioned the reason for the death of Kaikholen Tuboi as drug over-dose even though the post-mortem report of the deceased is yet to be released, Guite wondered. He also maintained that the severe injury marks on the head of Kaikholen Tuboi proved that he was murdered. While demanding to produce the real culprits involved in the killing within 48 hours, Jangkholam Guite urged the state government machinery to replace the present Investigating Officer (IO) for through investigation into the killing and deliver fair justice.
He also appealed to the concerned authority not to temper the post-mortem report of the deceased persons under any circumstances and also demanded to remove the VDF post near Serou Lamkhai as the VDF personnel claimed of not having any knowledge about the crime which happened just a few metres away from their post. JAC convenor Nemneilhing Baite, joint secretary Tinkim, members Dimneiting Lhungdim and Hoikhochong Touthang also attended the press meet among others.
