16 fresh cases detected, 53 more discharged

IMPHAL, 12th Jul: The cumulative number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the state has reached 1609 after detection of 16 fresh cases while the total number of discharged cases is 896 after 53 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. There are 713 active cases at present and the recovery rate has further improved to 55.68 per cent.
The 16 new cases (one male and 15 female) were detected at VRDLs of RIMS (1) and JNIMS (15). They are from Chandel (1), Imphal East (3), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (6) and Senapati (5).
On the other hand, the 53 patients were discharged from CCC Meitram (16), CCC Churachandpur (4), CCC Kakching (2), CCC Senapati (2), CCC Ukhrul (8), RIMS (12) and JNIMS (9).
A statement of the Covid-19 CCR informed that wearing face masks is a very effective non-medical means to prevent spread of Covid-19. “Wear face mask when you speak to your colleagues, close friends and relatives. People should wear face masks whenever going out of the house,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, as per status update on Covid-19 shared by IDSP, 626 truckers and 376 commuters including 315 flight passengers were screened at different entry points in the last 24 hours. A total of 4819 people are undergoing quarantine period. The state has so far conducted 63,534 tests including 1637 conducted in the last 24 hours. RIMS conducted tests on 550 samples, JNIMS conducted tests on 1077 samples and DH Senapati conducted tests on 10 samples in the last 24 hours. Out of the freshly discharged cases, one is from Thoubal, two from Kamjong, three each from Imphal West, Kakching & Tamenglong, six from Kangpokpi, eight from Jiribam, and nine each from Churachandpur, Senapati and Ukhrul districts.
