WY tablets, Heroin worth Rs 2 cr seized

MOREH, 10th Jul: Moreh Police seized World is Yours (WY) tablets and Heroin worth more than Rs 2 crore during frisking and checking at Moreh Police Check Post near Kondong Lairembi on Thursday at about 6:30 pm.
The said contraband items were recovered from an Alto car bearing registration number WB06B 8734 which was heading towards Imphal from Moreh.
The car was driven by one Barul Alam (25) s/o Liyaquat of Lilong and he was arrested at the spot. On preliminary investigation, Barul revealed that the WY tablets were smuggled into the Indian side from Myanmar by two people namely Sangkim Hmar (35) s/o Lansanhim Hmar and V Rajashakher (37) s/o Veelashamy. Both of them are residents of Moreh Ward No. 3, Paicham Veng and they have also been arrested by a team of Moreh police.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Tengnoupal SP Th Vikramjit Singh said the arrest and the seizure were made as part of the “War against drug” mission launched by the state government. The district police have been conducting several drives against drug and illicit trafficking. On Thursday, a total of 50,200 pieces of WY tablets and 11 gram of Heroin powder were recovered from an Alto car while conducting frisking and checking at Moreh Police Check Post near Kondong Lairembi area. The driver of the car has been booked under NDPS Act while another case has been registered against the two people who were arrested following the revelation made by the Alto driver. Further investigation is on, he added.
