Nine more SFs from Jiribam among 24 fresh cases

IMPHAL, 6th Jul: Days after 28 fresh cases of local transmission took the tally of Jiribam district to 32, nine more Covid-19 positive cases were detected in the district, which has been put under complete lockdown by the state government to check further transmission of the pandemic.
The nine new cases of Jiribam were among 24 fresh cases (17 male and 7 female) detected in the state in the last 24 hours. All the nine new cases from Jiribam are police personnel (7) and VDF personnel (2), who have contact history with the ASI who tested positive for Covid-19 on July 1. Samples of 135 state security personnel were tested at RIMS VRDL and results of nine personnel returned positive. Five of them are from Jiribam district, two from Imphal East, one from Kangpokpi and one from Thoubal district.
Of the 24 new cases detected in the last 24 hours, three are from Imphal East and the remaining 12 from Senapati district alone. With the 24 new cases, the tally of total confirmed cases of Covid-19 has reached 1390.
On the other hand, 45 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recovered cases to 734 against 656 active cases. Recovery rate is witnessing improvement as the rate stands now at 52.80 per cent.
The CCR statement said that a seven-year old girl was found positive on Sunday. She returned from Delhi with her parents on June 22. Her parents were found positive on June 28 and the girl was negative. Both the parents were shifted to JNIMS and she was put under home quarantine at Thangmeiband. She has been shifted to JNIMS now. On the other hand, status update shared by IDSP informed that 399 truckers and 648 commuters were screened at different entry points and the figures include 554 flight passengers. So far, 56,584 tests have been conducted including 623 done in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the state health department has asked DC Jiribam to vacate premises of CHC Jiribam presently occupied by police department citing urgent need. In the letter to the DC, deputy secretary (H&FW) said that in view of the prevailing Covid-19 emergency, Jiribam hospital is now identified as a Covid Care Centre, and CHC Jiribam has to be made functional so that normal non-Covid medical services can be resumed immediately.
