Two newborn babies named Covina and Covida

KANGPOKPI, 4th Jul: Although the COVID-19 tally of Kangpokpi District has crossed the 100th-mark, the frontline health workers have made everyone smile again after successfully delivering two healthy babies at different Quarantine centres in the district on different date and occasion.
Born exactly a month after the first quarantine baby, Emmanuel Quarantino, the two new quarantine babies, a female and a male were named Covina and Covida by the SDO concerned and the medical team respectively.
A Gurgaon returnee couple, Seigin alias Gin Hangshing and Nengminhoi Hangshing from Motbung Model village welcomed their first born baby girl on July 1 at the Institutional Quarantine Centre, wherein they are staying under surveillance as per Government guidelines.
Seigin and his wife had returned from Gurgaon on May 25 in a special Shramik train and reached Kangpokpi via Jiribam on May 29. Since then, they have been staying at IGNTU-RCM, Makhan Institutional Quarantine Centre along with hundred other returnees.
The couple had to stay back for more than 30 days at the IQCs, as many positive cases among the inmates were detected one after another. Almost 60 positive cases have been reported from IGNTU-RCM Makhan Institutional Quarantine Centre till date.
The baby girl was delivered by a team of PHC Motbung led by Dr Imocha and Dr Kennedy with two nurses under careful supervision of CMO Kangpokpi Dr Nilakanta Singh and Kangpokpi District Hospital MS i/c Dr Paotinlal Haokip at 11.35 am Wednesday. The baby weighed 2.8 kg and is said to be in stable condition along while her mother.
Later, the baby girl and her parent were shifted at MTC Institutional Quarantine Centre from IGNTU-RCM Makhan, where she got the name ‘Covina’ from Kangpokpi block IQC in-charge Chunglenmang Kipgen, who visited the baby girl along with additional SP (Ops) Lalminlen Misao and senior journalist Kaybie Chongloi.
The parents were delighted to have a good name for their daughter from the MCS officer and conveyed their happiness, while stating that she will be called as Covina as named by the MCS officer and team.
Meanwhile, two days later, a medical team lead by Dr Nengpilhing, MO in-charge of PHC Kalapahar delivered a healthy baby boy at Tumnoupokpi Home Quarantine at 12.15 pm on July 3. It was the second delivery for the medical team of PHC Kalapahar, which had earlier delivered Emmanuel Quarantino, the first quarantine baby at Emmanuel School Haipi IQC.
After the successful delivery of the baby boy, Dr Nengpilhing and her husband Ngamminlen along with the medical team named the baby boy ‘Covida’ who weighed 4 kg. The child’s mother, Jasmine is a Bangalore returnee who arrived in the state on May 29. The baby boy and her mother are healthy.
Kangpokpi block IQCs in-charge Chunglenmang Kipgen, Additional SP (Ops) Lalminlen Misao and local senior journalist Kaybie Chongloi visited the baby boy and her mother. Kangpokpi District has three quarantine babies now, namely Emmanuel Quarantino, Covina and Covida.
