JNIMS, DESAM end row over biomedical waste
IMPHAL, 1st Jul: JNIMS authority and DESAM arrived at an understanding over the issue of disposal of biomedical wastes generated from JNIMS in a meeting held on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by JNIMS director professor Th Bhimo, medical superintendent professor T Rajen, FMT head professor G Angam, incinerator plant in-charge professor O Guneswar, additional medical superintendent Dr Kh Lokeshwar, deputy director (administration) Yaiphaba Longjam, supervisor of biomedical waste O Arjo, DESAM president N Edison, vice-president O Shital and assistant general secretary M Somorjit.
The meet agreed to ensure operation of the incinerator to its full capacity keeping in view of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the state. As per the agreement arrived at the meeting, the MS will personally monitor the biomedical waste disposal activities on daily basis and will also conduct an enquiry into the functioning of the incinerator plant and biomedical waste disposal process. The enquiry report shall be submitted to the JNIMS director within seven days.
While thanking DESAM for taking interest in the hospital management, especially during the Covid crisis, JNIMS authority appealed to all to cooperate with the hospital authority and discuss any doubts with them.
