UNACCO to become 300-bedded facility: Minister

IMPHAL, 16th Jun: Informing that 253 beds are ready for utilisation at UNACCO COVID Care Centre, Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has assured that 47 more beds would be added to increase the total capacity to 300 beds.
The Minister was speaking at a function held for distribution of ambulance at Medical Directorate Office, Lamphelpat here Tuesday morning.
While pointing out that the government had initially planned UNACCO COVID Care Centre to be a 100-bedded care centre, the Minister said that the government decided to increase the capacity to 300 beds due to escalating number of Covid-19 cases in the state.
Informing that two more ambulances have been procured by the National Health Mission, Manipur to meet the present requirement; he said that one ambulance would be used at CMO office, Bishnupur while the other would be utilised at Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat,
Meanwhile, minister Jayantakumar distributed five Mahindra Bolero SUV cars, one each for Pherzawl, Jiribam, Noney, Tengnoupal and Kakching districts in a function held at the directorate in the afternoon. The SUV cars were handed over to respective Chief Medical Officers of the districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayantakumar said that the vehicles were provided to CMOs concerned as the government recognises the increasing need of vehicles for transporting people who have returned to the state during this pandemic situation. Informing that the government has been providing vehicles to all the districts on priority basis, Minister Jayantakumar also appealed to public to stay calm during the pandemic as the government has been trying its best to contain the situation. Among others, the event was also attended by Health Services director Dr K Rajo Singh; additional directors and officials of Health Department & NHM, Manipur.
