64 fresh cases in 24 hrs take state’s tally to 449

DELHI RETURNEES TOP CCPUR POSITIVE CASES; MLA KORUNGTHANG INSPECTS COMMUNITY QUARANTINE CENTRES

IMPHAL, 13th Jun: With 64 new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases in the state has reached 449 of which 91 have recovered and discharged leaving 358 active cases under treatment.
As per official report, 20 samples tested positive at JNIMS and another 44 at RIMS. The official report did not mentioned district wise numbers of fresh cases. However, as per inputs from our correspondents, out of the 64 fresh cases 33 are from Churachandpur, six from Tamenglong, five from Bishnupur and two from Thoubal. Details of the remaining 18 new positive cases are not known till the time of filing this report.
Conditions of all the fresh cases are stated to be stable and they have been shifted to the Covid Care Facility at UNACCO School Meitram. All necessary preventive measures such as containment and contact tracing have been taken up.
On the other hand, daily status report issued by IDSP informed that 14 patients 10 from RIMS and four from JNIMS have been discharged after their samples tested negative on Saturday following which total number of recovered cases has reached 91 with a recovery rate of 20.26 per cent. Similarly, both IDSP and Common Control Room did not disclosed district wise details of the discharged cases. However, sources said that seven patients from Noney and one from Churachandpur district have been discharged from RIMS on Saturday. Details of the six remaining discharged cases could not be ascertained.
As many as 1846 samples were tested at the VRDLs at RIMS (1208) and JNIMS (638) from Friday 6.30 pm to Saturday 6.30 pm. Total number of tests has reached 24,046. At present 125 patients are undergoing treatment in RIMS, 135 in JNIMS, 64 at UNACCO School Meitram and 34 at District Hospital Bishnupur.
Meanwhile, SK Women’s College, Nambol in Bishnupur district and District Sports Complex Kodompokpi, Wangjing have been declared as containment zones following detection of positive cases from among the inmates.
CCPUR: With 23 more persons confirmed COVID-19 positive in the past 36 hours, the total cases of infection in Churachandpur district has risen to 69, but the number of active case in 48 after recovery of 21 patients. According to a source in the IDSP, till Friday evening there were only 9 infected persons (including 7 females), with all Delhi returnees and stationed at Gandhi Memorial High School quarantine centre.
However, four persons including three females from the same centre tested positive of COVID-19 late Friday night while on Saturday 10 persons were also confirmed to be positive. All reached the state from Haryana on May 29 with four put under surveillance at St John School, Gothol village, and three each at VK Tawna High and Dawn School.
In terms of numbers of COVID -19 positive cases, the highest infection is among the Delhi returnees followed by returnees from Chennai and Mumbai.
On the other-hand, Tengnoupal MLA D Korungthang along with members of Autonomous District Council Chandel Th Joy Lamkang inspected Community Quarantine centres set up at Kapaam (Komlathabi) village on Saturday.
Accompanied by village chief R Jindashing Moyon and Kapaam Baptist Church Pastor Reverend Roel Philip, the MLA assessed condition of South East Manipur College quarantine centre, Kapaam Communuity quarantine centre maintained by Kapaam Village Authority and ITI Kapaam Community Quarantine Centre run by Kapaam Baptist Church.
Korungthang urged the inmates to stay in the quarantine centres by following the SOP provided by the government to contain the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and also appealed to all for helping the volunteers running the quarantine centres.
He also assured of providing CGI sheet for constructing houses to the people of Mengkhang village who are taking shelter in Kapaam village.
