CM Biren makes public COVID fund receipts
IMPHAL, 10th Jun: Chief minister N Biren Singh has disclosed amount donated by the people to ‘CM COVID-19 Relief Fund’ and amount utilised so far from the fund in fighting the pandemic.
Placing the donated amount as well as expenditure incurred in fighting COVID-19 pandemic from the fund in the public domain through his social media (facebook) account, N Biren said a total of Rs 23.96 crore has been donated by the people to ‘CM COVID-19 Relief Fund’ as of Wednesday and it included Rs 10 crore corpus fund. However, a total of Rs 18.22 crore has been utilised from the fund so far in fighting the pandemic while Rs 5.73 crore remain in balance.
As per account statement disclosed by the chief minister, a total of Rs 7.07 crore was utilised in extending financial help to state natives stranded in other states and Rs 4.05 crore utilised in distribution of rice to the people at free of cost in the month of April.
CM’s account statement also said that Rs 2.65 crore from the fund was utilised in extending financial help to truck and bus drivers and further mentioned that Rs 4.24 crore was utilised in evacuation of state natives from different states and Rs 20 lakh has been given to Joint Committee COVID Awareness thus totalling utilisation of Rs 18,22,83,800 from the fund. Recently, a man named Izakistar Eimi (facebook account) posted a message to chief minister and demanded to know where ‘CM COVID-19 Relief Fund’ had been utilised. In his reply, CM N Biren Singh had said that evacuation of stranded people from outside, providing food to them and distributing rice to public were not free and told the man to examine account statement with accountant general.
