Nearly 40K held for lockdown violation

IMPHAL, 23rd May: Since the lockdown began in March last week, the state government has so far collected Rs 40,65,490 as fine from as many as 39,447 lockdown violators along with seizure of 29,828 vehicles.
On Saturday, police in different districts detained 578 violators along with 489 vehicles and collected Rs 69,700 as fine. According to a statement issued by ADGP (LO) L Kailun, Thoubal district reported highest number of lockdown violators on Saturday as the district police detained 348 individuals and 182 vehicles thereby collecting Rs 27,500 as fine.
Thoubal is followed by Bishnupur district where police collected Rs 17,600 as fine from 124 individuals who were detained along with 95 vehicles. Imphal East district police detained 80 vehicles and collected Rs 8,800 as fine while Kakching district police collected Rs 7100 after detaining 37 vehicles. Senapati district police detained three individuals and 25 vehicles thereby collecting Rs 3600 as fine.
Imphal West district police collected Rs 3200 as fine from 95 individuals along with 68 vehicles. In Kangpokpi, the district police detained eight individuals and 2 vehicles, and collected Rs 1900 as fine. There is no report regarding detention of lockdown violators and collection of fine in the remaining districts of the state.
