Senapati CSOs shelve blockade plan
IMPHAL, 20th May: Senapati CSOs who had threatened to impose indefinite economic blockade at National Highway 2 demanding suspension of former deputy commissioner Somorjit Salam for breaking Covid-19 SoP and quarantine protocol have withdrawn the blockade after reaching an agreement with the state government on Wednesday. A joint meeting was held among Senapati CSOs, Tribe Hohos, PHE minister & Mao MLA Losi Dikho, MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze and Phungyar MLA and advisor to CM K Leishiyo at NPO conference hall, Senapati during which the discussions figured alleged violation of SoP and quarantine protocol by Somorjit Salam and the call for indefinite economic blockade in response to it. The meeting agreed for withdrawal of indefinite economic blockade at NH 2 and constitution of an enquiry committee to investigate the matter. As per the agreement, the government will set up an enquiry committee to examine allegations that Somorjit violated COVID-19 SOP and quarantine protocols on May 13.
