6961 persons in quarantine centres

IMPHAL, 19th May: As many as 6961 are staying in different institutional and community quarantine centres in different parts of the state as of Tuesday, according to a report by state surveillance officer, IDSP Manipur Dr L Tomcha Khuman.
As per the report, 1490 persons are in institutional quarantine facilities while 5471 are in community quarantine centres and 398 in paid quarantine centres. However, the report did not mentioned number of returnees under home quarantine. On Tuesday, 596 transporters were screened at Mao Gate and 252 at Jiribam. Number of transporters screened in different locations in Imphal included 616 at ISBT, 45 at Khuman Lampak YAS complex, and 67 at LPG bottling plant at Sekmai.
Swab samples of 20 inmates were sent to RIMS and 41 to JNIMS of which all of them came negative. The COVID-19 control room received 369 calls on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by COVID-19 common control room later in the evening stated that 199 persons were tested at VRDL of RIMS (63) and JNIMS (136) as per figure received till 7.30 pm. All the test results are negative. With Tuesday’s tests, the cumulative number of test has reached 2743 and rate of positive result is 0.32 per cent. The public is assured that the government is adopting all protocols and preventive steps for tackling COVID-19, the release added.
According to Health Department additional director and spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, samples tested and positive rate of around 0.32 percent indicate absence of any community transmission.
