MPP lauds role of media in COVID-19 fight

IMPHAL, 9th May: Manipur People’s Party (MPP) has lauded the role of media persons, editors, media houses and newspaper hawkers in ensuring proper implementation of measures taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level and chief minister N Biren Singh in the state towards containing COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 has claimed thousands of lives and infected millions of people throughout the world and the state too had two positive cases recently but recovered now, MPP interim president Dr S Ibomcha said in a statement.
Varied information about COVID-19 shared by both print and electronic media helped people in understanding risk of the virus, Ibomcha said, adding that role played by media in disseminating information about the deadly virus and containing the pandemic merit appreciation by the government and people.
The MPP president also thanked frontline COVID-19 fighters like doctors, nurses and paramedical staff for their role in curing two COVID-19 patients of the state thereby making the state free of the virus and achieving Green Zone category. Apart from thanking police department for implementing lockdown protocol effectively throughout the state, the MPP president also thanked government employees for rendering their services to the people in these difficult times. He also thanked civil society organisations, community leaders and political parties for extending helping hand to the people affected by lockdown.
The interim MPP president also said that the party would continue with its humanitarian service to people affected by lockdown.
