Minister Biswajit moots drones to scan work sites

IMPHAL, 8th May: Works minister Thongam Biswajit Singh has stressed the need for using drones to conduct aerial surveys of work sites as the Works department is facing shortage of man-power.
The minister made the proposal during the Programme Advisory Committee 2020-21 Meeting convened at the conference hall of his New Secretariat office on Friday. During the meeting, the minister said that this year focus will be on unavoidable work and on priority basis. The department will also focus on clearing past liabilities and as such there will be lesser work programmes this year. During the meeting, the minister also instructed department officials including Chief Engineer Kh Temba and Chief Engineer (Buildings) N Noren to procure two hot mix plants for Ukhrul and Tamenglong districts. Among others, the meeting was attended by Commissioner (Works) RK Dinesh and officials of Finance and Planning beside members of the committee MLAs L Radhakishore Singh, L Rameshore Meitei, Md Ashab Uddin, Md Fajur Rahim, N Indrajit and Y Surchandra Singh.
