Posers raised over snub to natives stuck in red zones

STAFF REPORTER
IMPHAL, 7th May: Vadodara Manipuri Students Parents’ Association has questioned the state government on whether it plans to rescue the natives who are stuck in red zones owing to the lockdown over COVID-19.
Addressing a press meet held at Phurailatpam Mandap located at Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai here on Thursday, Association member Rk Meghachandra said that Gujarat has been identified as one of the red zones of COVID-19 outbreak. Recently, the state government had initiated relevant process to allow return of Manipuris who are stuck in green zones.
Questioning if the state government has discussed rescuing ‘our’ children who are stuck in red zones, Meghachandra conveyed that many students have been asked by their respective property owners to vacate their rents. Meanwhile, other state governments have begun bringing back their respective people from the said zones either by bus or by train.
Informing that several hostels in Gujarat have also asked the students to vacate their rooms, he conveyed that some of the hostels’ messes have begun serving only breakfast instead of lunch due to scarcity of food. As such, he urged the state government to write to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Railways to bring back the people of the state who are stuck in Gujarat by any means possible.
