Top police officers assess security measures
KAKCHING, 5th May: IGP Zone I Clay Khongsai has reviewed the security measures taken up by the police in Thoubal and Kakching during the relaxation period of the ongoing lockdown.
On Tuesday morning, Clay Khongsai along with Kakching SP Victoria Yengkhom, additional SP (Law and Order) Lunkhomang Khongsai and Kakching PS OC Akoijam Premjit inspected if the public are maintaining social/physical distancing norms or wearing face masks while coming out to buy essential goods in the markets. The police officers also inspected if edible goods are being sold in hygienic manner or not.
At Thoubal Bazar too, the IGP accompanied by Thoubal SP Dr S Ibomcha assessed whether or not public are abiding the guidelines laid down by the government for containing the Coronavirus pandemic while venturing out of their homes.
Clay Khongsai stressed that people should be more cautious during the phase III period of lockdown since many people are coming out of their houses to buy essential commodities and there are high chances of spreading the virus in crowded public places. As such, everyone should wear face masks and maintain physical distancing at public places.
Stating that police personnel are trying their best to enforce the government guidelines, the IGP urged people to maintain physical/social distancing while marketing and always wear masks. He also sought co-operation from the public in containing the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Kakching SP Victoria Yengkhom has pointed out that some local streets and roads near Kakching bazar area were blocked on Tuesday in order to prevent congestion and to control traffic in Kakching market area. Stating that the ongoing lockdown might continue and the situation may get worsen, the SP urged the public to bear with the inconveniences in commutation during the relaxation period.
It may be mentioned here that in order to maintain social distance and minimise mass gathering at Kakching Bazar, Kakching Municipal Council, SP Kakching and Kakching Bazaar Business Welfare Association had grouped the shops and vendors in Kakching Bazar as A and B and the day of opening of Group A and Group B are also fixed on different days.
