MHS doctors to cease work: AMHSDA
IMPHAL, 2nd May: Demanding the state government to recoup the Non Practicing Allowance (NPA), which was deducted from the pay structure of doctors of Manipur Health Services (MHS) within 7 days; All Manipur Health Services’ Doctors Association (AMHSDA) president Dr P Shyamsunder has cautioned of launching cease work protest.
Addressing a press meet held at AMHSDA office, Lamphel on Saturday, Dr Shyamsunder recounted that an order issued by the Finance Department on April 27 informed MHA doctors of the deduction of NPA from their respective pay structures.
“The deduction of NPA has demoralised the doctors who are risking their lives, working in the frontline of the battle against COVID-19”, he lamented.
As such, an emergency meeting of AMHSDA was convened in this regard, wherein three resolutions were adopted. The resolutions include urging Health Minister L Jayantakumar to reinstate NPA; wearing of black badges by all MHS doctors in protest, and lastly, staging a cease work protest if the NPA is not reinstated within 7 days, the AMHSDA president conveyed.
Dr Shyamsunder further informed that a general body meeting of AMHSDA would be convened during the said 7 days to ascertain the government’s move, apart from discussing the COVID-19 scenario and health issues in Manipur.
In addition, All Manipur State Government Dental Surgeons' Association and AYUSH doctors have expressed support to AMHSDA, he added.
