Covid-19 brought hill-valley people closer: Dr Lorho

THOUBAL, 30th Apr: Covid-19, which has brought so much misery all over the world, has somehow reduced the divide between the hill and valley people of the state and brought them closer, opined Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze.
Speaking during a programme conducted in connection with exchange of essential items between a team led by him and people of Wangjing on Thursday, MP Lorho observed that love is the greatest religion. Although Covid-19 is a deadly disease, it has brought to light many good things everyone had forgotten, it has kindled the fire of helping each other during the time of crises.
He invited brethren of valley to the hill areas and support each other. “The vegetables they have brought from the hills may not be much in value but it has come with a pure heart of love. Let us all come together with heart filled with love and make a world where everyone can live in peace and harmony,” he exhorted. The MP was also accompanied by NPF Manipur State Unit president and Tamei MLA Awangbou Newmai, social worker Gaidon Kamei while people of the valley were represented by Wangjing-Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen and local elders.
During the programme, the MP and his team distributed vegetables grown in hills while their valley brothers gifted them edibles, handloom shawls and wheat produced by Wangjing-Tentha Progressive Farmers, among other items. MLA Newmai praised the state government’s effort for tackling the outbreak in the state and appealed to all to follow the lockdown guidelines while helping each other.
Expressing his gratitude, MLA Brojen stated that the event is a very heart touching, it has literally shown the love elder brother from the hill has for his younger brother living in valley just like what is seen in ‘Tangkhul Saba’ ceremony of Lai Haraoba festival. “If we can maintain the love we have shown each other now, then we all can remain united always,” he said, while requesting the MP and his team to take the gifts given by the valley people with love.
