85 under quarantine; 899 lockdown violators detained
IMPHAL, 26th Apr: In all, 85 people are staying at government-designated quarantine centres, which were set up as part of precautionary measures against COVID-19.
According to a report released by State Surveillance Officer IDSP Manipur Dr L Tomcha Khuman on Sunday, a total of 353 people were screened at Mao Gate, 84 at Jiribam and two at Jessami. Of the 353 people screened at Mao, 342 are drivers and handymen, while 11 belonged to families who had gone outside the state for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, all nine people (3 at RIMS and 6 at JNIMS), who took COVID-19 tests on Sunday tested negative for the virus, the report informed.
Meanwhile, police continued to launch extensive drives to ensure strict adherence to the lockdown protocols by the public.
On Sunday, a total of 899 people and 731 vehicles were detained for defying the lockdown guidelines and made to pay fine, amounting to Rs 91,200 in total.
According to a statement issued by ADGP (LO) L Kailun, 102 people and 86 vehicles were detained in Imphal West District, while a fine of Rs 5,200 was collected; in Imphal East District, 80 people and 78 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 8,000 was collected; in Bishnupur District, 279 people and 251 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 30,100 was collected; in Thoubal District, 265 people and 209 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 26,000 was collected; in Kakching District, 93 people and 95 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 12,900 was collected.
On the other hand, in Chandel District, 3 people and 3 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 300 fine was collected; in Noney District, 2 people and 1 vehicle were detained, while a fine of Rs 100 was collected; in Jiribam District, 7 people were detained; in Kangpokpi District, 11 people and 7 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 500 was collected; in Senapati District, 16 people and 1 vehicle were detained, while a fine of Rs 5,000 was collected; in Ukhrul District, 21 people were detained and in Tamenglong District, 10 people were detained, while a fine of Rs 3,100 was collected the release informed.
