922 lockdown violators detained, fined

IMPHAL, 25th Apr: Altogether 922 people and 740 vehicles were detained at several areas and made to pay fine amounting to Rs 1,12,440 in total on Saturday for violating the lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19, ADGP (LO) L Kailun informed.
Majority of the violators were detained for roaming around during the lockdown and not wearing masks. One IRB jawan was also detained at Singjamei market, Imphal West District for not wearing mask.
According to the ADGP, 167 people and 113 vehicles were detained in Imphal West District, while a fine of Rs 12,000 was collected; in Imphal East District, 131 people and 131 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 11,840 was collected; in Bishnupur District, 208 people and 111 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 21,800 was collected; in Thoubal District, 298 people and 181 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 28,000 was collected; in Kakching District, 141 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 21,300 was collected.
On the other hand, in Chandel District, 18 people and 10 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 1,100 fine was collected; in Churachandpur District, 30 people and 26 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 3,500 was collected; in Kangpokpi District, 26 people and 26 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 10,000 was collected; in Senapati District, 8 people and 1 vehicle were detained, while a fine of Rs 2,400 was collected and in Ukhrul District, 36 people were detained and a fine of Rs 500 was collected, the police officer informed in a release.
