Private schools asked to defer admission process

CHRONICLE BUREAU
IMPHAL, 24th Apr: The education (s) department has instructed all private schools in the state to defer admission process, if any, during the lockdown period.
The order came following a report of management committee of the two UNACCO Schools issuing notifications instructing parents to complete re-admission process of their existing students and complete all the formalities by April 30.
A statement issued by education (s) commissioner T Ranjit on Friday, stated that in view of the current lockdown measures imposed till May 3 by the government to prevent/contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), issuing such notice to the parents giving deadline at this critical juncture is considered ill-timed and not in the interest of both students and parents of the school.
It then informed the management committee of UNACCO School to withdraw/cancel the notice immediately. Any such similar administrative action (if necessary/required) may be issued only after the lockdown is lifted by the government, it added.
The statement further informed all private schools located in the state not to issue such notices during the enforcement of current lockdown/curfew, and the interest of the students should always be kept on top priority in their decision-making process, especially under the present prevailing circumstances.
