UCM decries bid to shield under-performing MLA

STAFF REPORTER
IMPHAL, 22nd Apr: United Committee Manipur (UCM) has condemned Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (TNAL) for shielding the MLA instead of standing for the crisis hit people of Tangkhul Khullen village.
According to a statement of UCM, its COVID-19 Special Task Force visited the village located under Saikul assembly constituency and distributed relief material among the villagers. During their visit, the village chief and other villagers told the UCM team that the village, which has a population of around 350, got only 400 kg of rice since the lockdown was announced. They also got the same share before the COVID crisis.
Though the MLA concerned can always rectify his stand over the issue, it is unfortunate for a civil organisation like TNAL to shield the MLA instead of standing for the people and criticizing organisations that stand for equal share for all.
