IMA-MSB to observe ‘White Alert’
IMPHAL, 21st Apr: In honour of all health workers who have lost their lives in the battle against Covid-19, Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch (IMA-MSB) would be observing Candle light homage and vigil “White Alert” on Wednesday at 9 pm.
In a release, IMA-MSB president Dr Shyamkumar Laishram urged all government doctors, clinics, private practitioners’ hospitals, medical institutions, nurses, paramedics, sanitation workers, lab technicians, attendants and all those involved in providing healthcare services to light a candle at 6:30 pm to show unity in this time of distress.
He also urged the sister organisations including Indian Dental Association, Trained Nurses Association of India TNAI-Manipur, Medical & PG students, NGOs and CSOs to show solidarity for the common cause.
Appreciating the well-coordinated task in the fight against pandemic COVID-19 which is being taken up by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren and health minister L Jayantakumar Singh, Shyamkumar lauded all the agencies involved particularly the State COVID Team, RIMS, JNIMS, nursing community, paramedics, cleaning staff, ambulance drivers, Police, media teams and various NGOs and organisations who have been fighting tirelessly against the pandemic COVID-19 outbreak. Lamenting over the increasing incidents of violence against doctors /HCWs in other states of the country, Shyamkumar informed that HCWs were barred entering their localities or chased by their landlords. He also condemned the indignity shown to senior doctors by denying respectful last rites in Meghalaya and Chennai.
