744 curfew violators fined

IMPHAL, 20th Apr: In all, 744 people and 537 vehicles were detained on Monday for violating guidelines of the lockdown imposed to contain spread of COVID-19.
In a release, ADGP (LO) L Kailun informed that curfew violators were produced before the Magistrates concerned and made to pay fine, amounting to Rs 76,250 in total.
It further informed that strict legal action would be taken against those found not wearing masks and violating the lockdown guidelines as per the provisions of National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Of the total lockdown violators detained on Monday, 100 people and 76 vehicles were detained in Imphal West District; 74 people and 74 vehicles in Imphal East District, 109 people and 63 vehicles in Bishnupur District; 229 people and 139 vehicles in Thoubal District; and 113 people and 111 vehicles in Kakching District.
On the other hand, in Churachandpur District, 33 people and 33 vehicles were detained and fined Rs 6,500; in Jiribam District, 8 people and 3 vehicles were detained and a fine of Rs 2,200 was collected from them.
In Chandel district, 11 people and 4 vehicles were detained and fined Rs 1,100; in Senapati District, 7 people and a vehicle were detained and collected a fine of Rs 2,100 in total; in Ukhrul District, 22 people were detained; in Kangpokpi district 33 people and 33 vehicles were detained and fined them Rs 5,000 and in Tamenglong district, 5 people were detained and collected a sum of Rs1,200 as fine for violating the lockdown.
