501 lockdown violators held; 97 quarantined

IMPHAL, 19th Apr: Around 501 people and 300 vehicles were detained on Sunday for violating the lockdown over COVID-19. They were produced before the Magistrates concerned and made to pay fine, amounting to Rs 37,200 in total, a release by ADGP (LO) L Kailun informed.
It further informed that strict legal action would be taken against those found not wearing masks and violating the lockdown guidelines as per the provisions of National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Of the total lockdown violators detained on Sunday, 58 people and 37 vehicles were detained in Imphal West District, while a fine of Rs 800 was collected; in Imphal East District, 72 people and 72 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 7,200 was collected; in Bishnupur District, 116 people and 58 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 11,200 was collected; in Thoubal District, 177 people and 102 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 14,100 was collected; in Kakching District, 15 people and 10 vehicles were detained, while a fine of Rs 700 was collected.
On the other hand, in Churachandpur District, 19 people and 19 vehicles were detained; in Jiribam District, 12 people were detained, while a fine of Rs 2,200 was collected; in Senapati District, 1 person and 1 vehicle was detained while a fine of Rs 500 was collected, and in Ukhrul District, 31 people and 1 vehicle were detained, while a fine of Rs 500 was collected, the release conveyed. Meanwhile, as part of containment measures against COVID-19, 97 people are presently being quarantined at various government-designated quarantine centres in the state.
According to a report released by State Surveillance Office IDSP, Manipur Dr L Tomcha Khuman, 353 people were screened at Mao gate while 131 were screened at Jiribam. Moreover, 11 people, who recently returned to the state, are on home quarantine while 97 people are staying at the different government designated quarantine centres.
