PMGKAY rice for 26 ACs lifted
IMPHAL, 17th Apr: The allotted share of rice for 24 Assembly Constituencies under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) have been lifted by the deputy commissioners concerned, while the allocation process for the remaining 36 constituencies is underway, informed Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department. Clarifying over reports of non-distribution of food grains contrary to the announcement made by the state Chief Secretary, the department informed that as per Letter no 7-1-2019(2)-PB. 3 dated 30-3-2020 of the central government, around 12283.905 metric tonne of rice (5kg per head) for NFSA card holders (PHH and AAY) and 587.503 metric tonne of pulses (1kg per head) for households covered by NFSA were allocated to the state.
The allotted share of rice for 24 ACs, which was lifted by the DCs concerned, is being prepared for distribution. The shares for the remaining 36 constituencies are being processed at FCI.
Under the PMGKAY scheme, 1600.85 quintal of rice have been allocated to Thangmeiband AC for the month of April, of which the DC concerned has lifted some in 11 trucks on April 9 and 11. The said lifted rice is being kept at the community hall near Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba.
The quantity to be allocated to fair price shops (FPS) has been prepared and the allocated share would be soon be handed over to the FPSs for distribution. Furthermore, as per the Letter no HO-IS-Manipur-2020-21 dated 10-04-2020 of NAFED, the Dal Masur Malka Variety which were allocated for the month of April alongside NFSA rice under PMGKAY scheme, will be sent to Koirengei ETC Agro Processing (India) Private Limited for milling on April 30. The same would be distributed to the people with the rice allocated for the month of May, the statement informed.
