Minister Radheshyam assures adequate distribution of rice
KAKCHING, 17th Apr: While assessing the problems faced by denizens of Kakching and Thoubal districts during the lockdown for combating Covid-19, Education minister Dr Th Radheshyam, who is the in-charge of the two districts, has assured adequate supply of PDS rice to the people.
On Friday, the minister convened meetings with SP Kakching Victoria Yengkhom, ADM Kakching Moirangthem Kapajit, SDO Waikhong Abujam Romen, CHC Kakching MO in-charge Dr Haobam Surjitkumar and District Surveillance Team in Kakching and in Thoubal with Deputy Commissioner Nongmaithem Bandana, SP Thoubal Dr S Ibomcha and medical officers to assess the current situations.
During the meetings, Minister Radheshyam stressed on allaying public apprehension over Coronavirus and mitigating their suffering due to the lockdown.
As per instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure availability of essential items including medicine and food items to the people during the lockdown period, arrangement will be made to relax commutation of 13 different categories of people including farmers and labourers from April 20 onwards, conveyed the minister and added that the relaxation will be implemented only after discussion with Chief Minister N Biren and government officials.
The minister also appealed to public not to violate the government’s guidelines for preventing outbreak of Coronavirus and urged them to extend co-operation and support to District Administration, medical staff, police and media. While stating that NFSA rice grain is being made available to public, the minister assured that 5 kg of rice per head for the months of April, May and June will be distributed freely and if there is shortage of rice then fund will be sanctioned from MLA’s Local Area Development Fund to meet the shortages.
