SP urges CSOs to make positive contribution
IMPHAL, 17th Apr: Setting record straight on the posers raised by CADA whether the betel leaves seized from Imphal Airport had been secretly substituted by cabbage leaves as the same had not been disposed till date, SP of Imphal West district K Meghachandra has called upon civil society organisations in the state to make positive contribution in the society instead of propagating negativity.
SP Meghachandra informed that acting on a complaint, a team of CADA including its president, general secretary along with the police inspected the seized items. Later the inspection team found out that the police barrack used previously for sleeping has now been converted for keeping the seized betel leaves safely and under seal while waiting for due process of law court.
The inspection team also found out that availability of betel leaves in the market is due to some selfish people who secretly bring in betel leaves after concealing in vehicles or bags, the SP said.
Informing that CADA immediately accepted its mistake after inspecting the seized items, Meghachandra called for mature response and reaction from all concerned instead reacting promptly without verification in future.
The seized betel leaves cannot be burnt down without disposal order from the court, the SP clarified, while cautioning that leveling false allegations or passing comment to defame a person or challenging the process of court can lead to legal action.
