MNPF calls for defeating COVID-19 collectively

IMPHAL, 14th Apr: The armed Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) has appealed to people of Manipur, both hills and valley, to remain united at this difficult situation brought by COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown imposed to prevent spread of the deadly virus.
According to a statement of MNPF, COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown imposed in almost all the countries of the world to prevent spread of the virus has severely hit people as many spent sleepless nights and rendered jobless apart from creating fear psychosis. The virus is attacking entire sections of people irrespective of rich or poor and religion but the lockdown imposed across the globe as measures to prevent spread of the disease has created a more serious scenario than the virus as it left millions of people across the globe jobless, starving, angry apart from economic breakdown.
As a step to escape from the virus, Manipur government too imposed lockdown and strictly enforced it. However, the impact of the lockdown is beginning to hit hard all sections of the society with daily wage earners being the worst affected, the outfit said and appealed to people of both hills and valley to remain united and help each other at this difficult situation. Food items available in hills could be provided to the valley and vice-versa, the outfit said and appealed to CSOs to set up community workers at different places to initiate necessary steps in this regard so that no one in Manipur face food problem. The outfit also expressed hope that this measure would help in maintaining harmony among different sections of people.
