CM calls for supporting lockdown till May 3
IMPHAL, 14th : After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced extension of the nationwide lockdown till May 3, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to the people of the state to support and abide by the decision of the Central Government so as to contain the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
In a video message sent out to media houses on Tuesday, Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated that the state government fully endorsed the decision of the Union Government to extend the nationwide lockdown till May 3.
Lauding the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in combating the pandemic, Biren said that many countries have appreciated the steps and preventive measures being taken up by the Prime Minister in the country.
Stating that the State government is closely monitoring the situation, Biren urged the people to extend their support and co-operation to the decisions taken by the government from time to time.
Acknowledging the cooperation extended by the people of the state so far, Chief Minister Biren appealed to the Manipuris who are stuck outside the state not to get frightened as the state government has already deputed senior IAS officers for each state to address the grievances faced by the Manipuris in various parts of the country.
Pointing out that the government is working closely with CSOs, student organisations and individuals to extend help to the students who are stuck in different states, he informed that around 17,900 students have registered through www.tengbang.in and an amount of Rs 2000 each credited into the bank accounts of around 2700 students so far.
Urging the people of the state to give respect to the drivers and handymen who are risking their lives in bringing essential items into the state, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to follow the seven point rules laid down by the Prime Minister in his address to the Nation on Tuesday.
It may be mentioned here that the Prime Minister asked everyone to take special care of the elderly in their homes, especially those who have chronic diseases. The Prime Minister advised everyone to completely adhere to the lockdown protocols and social distancing norms.
During his address to the nation on Tuesday, PM Modi recommended use of homemade face-covers and masks. He also appealed to the citizens to follow the instructions issued by AYUSH Ministry to enhance immunity.
Urging people to download the Arogya Setu mobile app to help prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, the Prime Minister requested the people to take as much care of poor families as one can and to be compassionate towards workers and employees in business or industry.
Addressing the nation via video conference, Prime Minister Modi said that we must pay utmost respect to those who are working at the frontline such as doctors and nurses, sanitation workers and police force, etc.
